When doing craft shows it is hard to know what product or theme will be popular in any given year. One year it's snowmen for Christmas, the next year it's penguins. Gently jiggle the stuck zipper to see if there is small 'opening' or loose place by where it is stuck. If there is, look closely to see if there is a piece of material under the zipper slide that has jammed the zipper in place. Using tweezers will allow it to be gently maneuvered out.
Sometimes, carefully tugging the zipper up or down at the same time will loosen the fabric or free it. If this works, there is a good chance the zipper will now move freely. In order to prevent another jam, or if the slide still will not move due to grungy or sticky zipper teeth there are many alternatives one may try in order to lubricate it.
Gently wiggle the zipper slide up and down, working the lubricant thoroughly into the teeth. Forcing a stuck zipper slide up or down may irreparably tear, damage or cause runs in fabric or the zipper itself. Be methodical and patient; slowly, the zipper will pick up the lubricant and slide easily up and down.If necessary, wash whatever article of equipment or clothing that the zipper is attached to. The zipper should be unstuck and good as new.
By far, the best option in lubricant for a stuck zipper is a few drops of mild liquid dish or hand soap. The tip of a hard bar of soap will work as well, though will not have the same maneuverability. Soap should always be the preferred method of lubrication because it can be easily washed off and will (usually) leave no residue or stain on fabrics.

I have had it happen to me numerous times, in fact more times then I could possibly remember! Zippers are a wonderful invention except when they either catch, break or just plain get off track. It is embarrassing to be caught literally with your zipper down and so I thought, being that my mother was a seamstress by trade and taught me many things about fixing tears, rips, hems and yes, zippers too, I would share with you how instead of throwing away your favorite jacket or denim jeans, wouldn't you love to know how to fix the zipper instead in some simple steps, thus saving that favorite article of clothing? This is how!
The materials that you will need are a pair of scissors, a needle and thread (preferably thick thread), and a pair of needle nose pliers. These are all the tools that you will need! Not too bad, eh?
1. After you have removed the metal stop then you can move the tongue down towards the bottom of the track, just below the very bottom. Take caution not to pull off of the track completely!
2. After gathering these items, the first thing you need to do is to use the pliers to pry off the metal stop of the zipper. You will find this at the bottom of the zipper. It is the piece that stops the tongue of the zipper at the very bottom and keeps it from sliding off of the track. You may need to work it a bit, however with a little bit of effort you will be able to accomplish this task.
3. Begin to zip the zipper up until it is approximately half the way up and at the same time make sure that the teeth on the track are locking together smoothly. Make sure that the zipper is running completely straight.
4. It is now time to realign the teeth on the track of the zipper. Using your fingers, arrange the teeth on the track so that one side is completely straight without any creases. Now straighten all of the teeth on both sides of the track completely until all creases are gone and it is completely smooth.
Lace inserts are beautiful with lingerie, blouses, even blue jeans. The inserts aren't that difficult to put in but there's a few things you need to know before beginning. One thing you need to know before inserting lace is to what type of fabric you are attaching it. Lingerie, for instance, usually won't unravel so there won't be any hemming necessary with most lingerie projects. Other fabrics will unravel making it necessary to hem the cut-out area before inserting lace.
First,start with something easy such as a nylon gown or teddy. Cut it in half, at an angle, to prepare for the lace insert. You can cut it from just below the waist on one side to just below the underarm area on the other side. Or, cut it from by the ankle to just around the underarm area on the other side. You can also make the insert only on the front side and leave the backside as-is.
Then,decide on the width of the insert. You can make it as wide or narrow as you wish. After having cut the gown in half you'll need to trim the garment to size. For example, if you will be inserting a 5" wide lace piece you'll need to trim 2" off each side of the halved gown. That will make 4" you've trimmed away. The other inch is used to attach the lace insert to the gown.
Last,after trimming the gown for the lace insert, pin the insert in place, on each side of the halved garment. The garment will have to be turned inside-out to attach the lace insert. Make sure the lace exactly matches up with the gown as you're pinning it. Stitch, removing pins as you go along. Since lingerie fabrics normally don't unravel they are some of the easiest garments with which to try the inserts.
If you have other garments, like a blouse, may unravel after you insert the lace piece. Cut the area out of the blouse where you will insert the lace. It can be a heart cut out of the sleeve, a strip cut down both sleeves, or another design. Designs like a heart cut out of a sleeve do not need any trimming to allow for the lace insertion. Designs that require you to cut a piece of the garment in half, do require the trimming for the lace insertion.
